![]() We used about 5 of the film shots, the rest I used presets like these to match the film stock as close as I could and basically make a “better film shot” After I gave him a gut check basically saying “it’s going to look like dogshit if we do that”, he agreed to let me shoot both film and digital. Last year I shot a cookbook and the author requested it to be shot on film. I've shot a number of portraits in natural light and been really dismayed with how RNI handles the roll-off. RNI has similar highlight issues with bokeh in daylight photos, too. I love profiles for editing as it really does streamline the process, but with the exception of Digistock, I have yet to find an ICC-based system for C1 that doesn't just absolutely mangle highlights. Look at the posterization at the center of the street lamp on the far right. I've put together an Imgur album showing the problem. RNI is the worst of the bunch, with Lutify just marginally ahead of it in terms of performance. How a profile handles the roll-off and overexposure of a street lamp is very important to me. I do a lot of night shooting in the city, and inevitably run into street lamps. In my experience, Digistock has the better handling of highlights over RNI and Lutify. Well that is encouraging to hear, and I am VERY excited about the Fuji 400H and Portra 400 profiles. ![]()
